The two times PSL Champions, Islamabad United, have announced today that they have appointed Johan Botha as head coach for Islamabad United in PSL 6 (PSL 2021).
Johan Botha, a former captain for South Africa, played as an all-rounder for the team. He also represented Islamabad United in PSL 2017. The 38-years old represented South Africa in 40 T20I’s and have taken 37 wickets.

Islamabad United’s Owner Ali Naqvi, excited about returning Johan Botha to the franchise, said:
“Johan was part of our team back in 2017, and his subsequent success across the world in T20 leagues would not be a surprise to anyone who had seen him work back then. He provides a progressive understanding of T20 cricket that we pride ourselves on, and we are confident that he will do his utmost in achieving our shared goals”.

After a poor performance of Islamabad United in PSL 2020. Johan Botha is looking forward to joining the Islamabad United’s franchise as Head Coach.
In an interview, he also expressed his feelings he said. “I am delighted to be back at Islamabad United. The franchise where I got my first taste of the Pakistan Super League at PSL 2. Since then, I have had different experiences at the PSL and a range of coaching stints at various tournaments around the world. I plan to bring all these experiences together and hopefully create another memorable PSL for Islamabad United”.
