One of the franchises of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Galle Gladiators, has announced Lasith Malinga as their Icon Players from Sri Lanka. Whereas, preferring the iconic international player, Galle had chosen Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi for the spot.
This news revealed via their official Twitter account, and it retweets by their linked Pakistan’s PSL franchise, Quetta Gladiators.
The first edition of Sri Lanka’s T20 league, the Lanka Premier League (LPL), is thoroughly ready to be commenced by 14th November. Many delays following the COVID-19 fears delay the league. The Schedule of the Lanka Premier League can be seen OPn Sports.
The detailed sports scenario was interrupted by the health crisis. The nations are slowly trying to overcome the incurred losses of 5-6 months that held no cricket.

All the matches will be held at the three venues. Sooriyawewa, Pallekele, and Dambulla, with the semi-finals and final held in Pallekele. The Colombo city will not be getting the premium hosting rights amidst its ongoing renovation.

With the 93-150 international players, ten top-notched coaches and umpires have auctioned. Out of 150 overseas contestants, it has decided to induce twenty-four Pakistani players in the first edition of the LPL.
On the contrary, Galle Gladiators is the franchise owned by Pakistan’s Quetta Gladiators. It develops the strong connections between the two boards of cricket committee and management. Consequently, many veteran cricketers from the Men in Green will be dominating LPL.

Shahid Afridi, The most known and loved cricketer globally, has been auctioned for $60,000 for Galle Gladiators. Shoaib Malik gets a base price of $50,000, whereas Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir, and Wahab Riaz will be getting $40,000 each.
Other than that, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Rumman Raees, Umar Gul, and many known players will be a significant part of the newly launched league.
