After the two senior players of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, left before the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) started, it gave an ultimate shock to everyone. From fans to management, everyone was shocked but the CSK and their authorities tried to keep their calm. The side, however, felt a massive shock but was completely chill as they did not lose any major assets.
The captain cool, MS Dhoni, was entirely undisturbed after the duo left for their backyards for personal reasons. It seemed like that the side has lost almost half of its experience until the Dad’s army locked the horns in the ground with Mumbai Indians (MI). As the inaugural game was played on 19th September between these two, it was expected that MI will be fully dominant. The opposite happened as CSK declared a five-wicket victory over Rohit Sharma’s army despite missing their two senior players.
However, after winning, the CSK skipper was spotted making a few statements as he said that as cricketers, they can easily criticize a few of the scenarios. He also praised the facilities provided by the ICC academy that has helped the players to utilize and generate results in the tournament.
Did MS Dhoni take a sly dig at Raina and Harbhajan Singh?
“It is an amazing job done by the IPL, especially ones behind the scenes. To make it happen there are a hundred different things; as cricketers we easily criticize stuff,” MS Dhoni said.
“To have the practice facilities like these at the ICC academy were fantastic. Unless you get practice facilities you won’t play well in a tournament like this,” the 39-year-old added.
