The former very talented and most experienced Pakistani Captain Shahid Afridi will lead the team of Galle Gladiators in LPL 2020. He is an excellent all-rounder who will now lead the team of the Gladiators in LPL 2020. After a successful career as the Pakistani Cricket team captaincy, he has lead many teams in different T20 leagues. He will lead Galle Gladiators in the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020) beginning Thursday on November 27th, 2020.
On Saturday, Team Management decide that Afridi will lead the Gladiators. The franchise owner Omar interested in Sarfraz Ahmed. He is another excellent Pakistani former captain, to lead the team of Galle Gladiators but, as he isn’t available due to his selection in the Pakistani team squad for the tour of New Zealand. Nadeem Omar has now announced Shahid Afridi as the captain of the team. The Sri Lankan all-rounder Bhanuka Rajapaksa will be the Vice-Captain of the team.
Shahid Afridi Leads Galle Gladiators in LPL 2020
Nadeem Omar tweeted that:
“Afridi will now captain the side since he is the senior-most player in our franchise and has experience of captaincy better than any other in the team.”
Afridi has played a 99 match career with the Pakistani Cricket team in T20’s. Recently has played two matches in Pakistan Super League (PSL) play-offs and has taken 3 wickets in those matches.
LPL 2020 is a tournament that has 23 games to be played between five teams. These teams are Galle Gladiators, Kandy Tuskers, Dambulla Hawks, Colombo Kings, and Jaffna Stallions. The tournament will begin on November 27th, 2020 with the final on December 16th. All the matches will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota.
The first match of the tournament was between the Colombo Kings and the Kandy Tuskers.
