SYT vs HBH Match Analysis and Review
Hobart Hurricanes were unable to win three consecutive matches, as well as back-to-back victories over the Melbourne Stars, as they did come out last time in an amusing affair in their chase. Having surprised the Stars in their last contest, Hobart might have fully believed that they could produce a repetitive result, but Marcus Stoinis’ terrific 97* knock did help the Melbourne side to a large total of 183/6.
Ben McDermott gave his side a solid opportunity to chase that score as he continued his brilliant form with 91 on 58 balls, but he was granted very little assistance and his side eventually fell short of 10 runs.
On a nice track, the Thunder lost Usman Khawaja to a second-ball duck, but Alex Hales made up for his opening partner’s loss as he blasted 46 of only 26 late cameo balls from Daniel Sams and Ben Cutting to help the Sydney side in 174/8.
The Thunder then bowed eight wides while also making some poor field errors as they allowed the Heat to chase down their total with five wickets and five balls to spare, but they’re still well-positioned on the points table after just their second loss of the tournament.
