Pakistan vs South Africa, South Africa last visited Pakistan back in 2007. The South Africa tour of Pakistan in 2007 with 5 ODI’s and 2 test matches. The Test series was held from October 1, 2007, to October 12, 2007. In the 2 test match series, SA won the series by 1-0 as SA won the first match, and the second match was tied. After the test match series ODI was played from October 18 to October 29, 2007. The guest team appeared to get on the home team and beat them in the ODI series by 3-2.
After 13 years, in 2020, Cricket South Africa announced that the South African team would visit Pakistan in January 2021 for 2 Test match series and 3 T20I’s. These matches are arranged in three different venues. The 1st test match will be at the National Stadium, Karachi and the second match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The T20I series will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The team will arrive in Pakistan on January 16 and will complete their isolation period before training. The first test match will be played on January 26, 2021.
In an Interview, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Zakir Khan commented, “South Africa confirming a tour to Pakistan and playing matches at the three major centers is fabulous news for Pakistan cricket and its fans. South Africa is one of the most popular sides in Pakistan even though they last played here in 2007, but the fans have been following their performances closely and now look forward to welcoming them”.
He also stated that “2021 promises to be a bumper and most exciting year for Pakistan cricket fans after a very long time. After South Africa, we are scheduled to host New Zealand, England and the West Indies, while our away series are against South Africa, Zimbabwe, England, Afghanistan and the West Indies”.
The director of Cricket South Africa, Graeme Smith, also commented that “It’s pleasing to see so many countries making a return to Pakistan – a proud, cricket-loving nation. Cricket South Africa is delighted to be counted among them. As someone who has toured the country on more than one occasion back in my playing days, I know how much passion the people of Pakistan have for the game as well as the love and support that the Proteas enjoy there as a team”.
